For those of you who were at
MERGE
(High School Sunday School) on Sunday morning, we
discussed some ideas for transforming the Loft. Below
are some quote ideas for the room. Send me an
email with you "thumbs up, thumbs
down" list from this group.
Cheers, Dave
Love the earth and sun and animals,
Despise riches, give alms to everyone that asks,
Stand up for the stupid and crazy,
Devote your income and labor to others...
And your very flesh shall be a great poem.
~Walt Whitman
The difference between a helping hand
and an outstretched palm is a twist of the wrist.
~Laurence Leamer
Everyone thinks of changing the world,
but no one thinks of changing himself.
~Leo Tolstoy
There are many persons ready to do
what is right because in their hearts they know it is
right. But, they hesitate, waiting for the other
fellow to make the first move--- and he, in turn,
waits for you. The minute a person whose word means a
great deal dares to take the open-hearted and
courageous way, many others follow.
~Marian Anderson

Yo Yo Yo (also cool in my day), This week the high
school Bible Study will be meeting in Congregational
Hall. In accordance with our new schedule we will go
from 7:50-8:50 to allow folks to get home a little
sooner.
Pass the word...

Confirmation Class
Participants:
Have you signed up for your Saturday at The Other
Carpenter yet? Each of you will spend part of one
Saturday during the year helping to repair homes in
Western Philadelphia. We go the second Saturday of
each month. This Saturday is our first outting, and
at this point we still have a few openings. If you
have yet to sign up and would like to go ahead and do
it this weekend, freeing up your weekends later,
please email Rob ASAP (
robmcclellan@bmpc.org). I'll then
reply with details. Essentially, we go from
about 8-2 on Saturday.
10/03/07 12:15 PM
Anyone interested in catching up on what they missed
in the first weeks of confirmation, please come to
court in the middle of the ministry center at 6 p.m.
October 4. Email Rob to let him know how many to
expect.

Thanks to Jessie, Courtenay, and Sara for their help
last week. If you'd like to help lead the portion of
fellowship where we reflect on the morning's
sermon/Scripture passage, show up to the big open
area (court??)
in the Ministry Center at 3:30. Email Rob to let him
know you're coming (
robmcclellan@bmpc.org).
Thursday is the 50th anniversary of the launch of the
Russian spacecraft "Sputnik." It is the 1 year
anniversary of October 4, 2006.
Peace

Okay, that was a cool thing to say when I was
younger...at least for Vanilla Ice.
It has been great getting to know you in class, and
now that the year is well underway, I wanted to start
letting you know about the other ways we'll be
together in the near future: This week is Youth In
Worship, meaning instead of attending class, we'll be
worshipping together at the 9:30 a.m. service. Just
as Courtenay has been doing with some of you the
11:00 service, I think we should sit up front on the
side where the pulpit is (where the preacher
preaches). I'll join you if I'm not in the worship
service. Otherwise, I'll catch up with you during the
fellowship right after ther service.
Coming soon is the Confirmation Retreat (Oct. 26-27)
at Camp Kirkwood. Details to come, but it will be a
great time.
Anybody writing anything they'd like to share from
their travel logs (journals)? If so, email Dave Exley
(
daveexley@bmpc.org) and ask him
to put it up on the blog.
Remember, Sunday afternoons 4:30-6:30 is youth
fellowship each week, dinner provided. I promise, no
Vanilla Ice. Hope to see you there!
